Author: Jacki Condon Date: 6 December 2011 08h30
As the end of the year approaches and we have a chance to reflect, we realise that 2011 was a very busy year for FutureBoks, with a lot having happened and numerous achievements obtained:
- A number of FutureBoks students played excellent rugby for their schools, receiving awards for their sporting achievements.
- A number of new students signed up with FutureBoks.
- An association was formed between FutureBoks and Sports Concussion South Africa.
- FutureBoks exhibited at St Johns during the Easter Rugby Festival.
- Our director of coaching, Kyle Condon, took his 2011 Wits Varsity Shield team to the finals.
- Kyle’s Wits University’s 2nd side finished second in the Gauteng League (Pirates Grand Challenge).
- Kyle was also appointed Head Coach for the Golden Lions Senior Amateur Team for 2011 and, for the first time in four years, they went through to the finals.
- The FutureBoks “Springbok Experience” rugby clinic held during July/August was a huge success.
- The Ridge School came on board, holding FutureBoks rugby sessions on Friday’s for the Grade 8’s.
And, we’re positive that 2012 will be even busier!
Looking ahead to 2012, there are a number of school holiday rugby clinics planned as well as exhibitions where FutureBoks will be present. We’re also in the process of obtaining new equipment from Ireland called the JumpMat, which is already in use by a number of Olympic training teams and international rugby teams. The JumpMat is a training aid, which provides an accurate measurement of essential indicators of athletic performance, such as Lower Body Power and Reactive Strength Index (RSI). Once again, FutureBoks will be leading the way with new, revolutionary training techniques!
In closing, FutureBoks wishes all our students and their parents a fantastic festive season! Stay safe, stay conditioned and have a ball!
